Crystal Palace Open to Selling Marc Guéhi and Eberechi Eze to Fund £130m Squad Overhaul

Crystal Palace are reportedly prepared to part ways with star players Marc Guéhi and Eberechi Eze this summer, aiming to finance a significant £130 million squad rebuild under manager Oliver Glasner.

Guéhi’s Potential Exit

Marc Guéhi, 24, is entering the final year of his contract at Selhurst Park. The England international has garnered interest from several Premier League clubs, including Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, and Newcastle United. Last summer, Newcastle had a £70 million bid for Guéhi turned down, but with his contract nearing its end, Palace may be more inclined to sell to avoid losing him on a free transfer.

Eze’s Transfer Prospects

Eberechi Eze, 26, has two years remaining on his contract and a £60 million release clause. Despite his impressive performances and contributions to England’s Euro 2024 campaign, Palace chairman Steve Parish expressed surprise at the lack of concrete offers for Eze during the previous transfer window. However, with clubs like Tottenham and Manchester United showing interest, a move this summer is plausible.

Strategic Rebuild Under Glasner

Manager Oliver Glasner is keen on reshaping the squad, focusing on bringing in up to six new players to enhance the team’s physical presence and consistency. The potential sales of Guéhi and Eze would provide the necessary funds for this ambitious overhaul.

Glasner expressed his satisfaction with the team’s development and spirit, stating, “If we can keep the squad together, we’re really pleased with how the players have developed over the last months and also how we created a team spirit again after not an easy start.”

Final thoughts

As Crystal Palace look to revamp their squad, the departures of Guéhi and Eze could mark the beginning of a new era at Selhurst Park. While losing two key players is significant, the funds generated could be pivotal in building a more robust and competitive team for the upcoming season.
